Copying, Printing and Scanning in the WSU Library System

Use this Website to install the software required to print from your personal device and learn about the various features on the Xerox printers/copiers throughout the Library System

Pricing By Service

OneCard and GuestCard Pricing

  • Black and white printing and copying is $0.11/per 8.5 x 11 page ($0.22/per page if duplexing)
  • Color printing and copying is $0.35/per 8.5 x 11 page ($0.70/per page if duplexing)
    • If printing in color, you will only be charged the color printing prices for pages containing color. The printer will automatically adjust the pricing of the document based on black and white and color pages.
  • 11 x 17 printing and copying is available in select locations and will be charged as two (2) 8.5 x 11 pages (per side if duplexing)
  • Documents can be scanned to a Wayne State Email or a USB flash drive for a fee of $0.05/per page. File saving options include .JPEG, .PDF and .TIFF

Coin Copy Pricing

  • Black and white coin copying is $0.15/per sheet ($0.30/per page if duplexing)
  • Color coin copying is $0.35/per 8.5 x 11 page ($.70/per page if duplexing)

Locations

The printers/copiers within the Library System have a card swipe and touch panel that is built on to the unit. These swipes are configured to work with a patron’s OneCard or GuestCard.

The following Multi-function units print and copy in Black and White and Color:

Please Note: These printers have a seperate computer to swipe at to release print jobs
  • Arthur Neef Law Library, 1st floor
  • Kresge Library, 1st and 2nd floor
  • Purdy Library, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floor
  • Shiffman Medical Library, 1st floor
  • Undergraduate Library, 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor

The following Single-function units print in Black and White:

  • Arthur Neef Law Library, 1st floor
  • Undergraduate Library, 2nd floor (Honors College, Room 2120)

The following Coin Copiers copy in Black and White and Color:

  • Arthur Neef Law Library, 1st floor
  • Krese Library, 1st floor

Copying

Please note that copying from a GuestCard is currently not working. Please direct patrons that do not have a OneCard to the Coin Copiers until further notice.

To copy using an OneCard:

  1. Swipe OneCard on the card swipe on the unit

  2. Once your OneCard has been recognized a small pop-up will display the balance on your OneCard account
  3. Press OK

  4. Press the Services Home button, which will display other service options including Copy, E-Mail, Scan To USB and Print Release
  5. Press Copy
  6. For single documents:
    • Place the document face down on the glass
    • Align the top left corner of the document with the arrow on the top left corner of the glass
  7. For multiple documents:
    • Use the automatic document feeder on the top of the Multi-function unit
    • Place documents face up. Please Do not load past the Max line
  8. Once documents are loaded properly, configure copy options on the touchscreen:

    • Confirm the Output Color, Paper Supply and Single or 2-Sided Copying settings
      1. 1 to 1-sided will create a standard one-sided copy
      2. 1 to 2-sided will create two-sided documents from two one-sided pages
      3. 2 to 2-sided will make two-sided copies from two-sided source pages
      4. 2 to 1-sided will create one-sided pages from two sided source pages
    • Use the Reduce/Enlarge button to resize large images to a standard paper size
  9. Press the Start button to initiate the copy process
  10. Press the Log In/Out button and confirm the command on the touch screen

Printing

There are several options to print your documents from Library System computers, personal device and Email.

Printing From Email

Email your print job from your Wayne State Email to print@wayne.edu and then swipe your OneCard at any of the OneCard release stations to retrieve your printouts

Please note:

  • Documents will only be accepted from a WSU email addresses
  • Patron must have a OneCard to use this print method
  • Acceptable file formats include:
    • PDFs
    • Images
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
    • Text Files (.CSV, .RTF, .TXT)
  • Verify your that your print request has uploaded to the print queue by using the My Print Center to access your queue and review what print requests have uploaded successfully

Printing From Laptops

Please Read Before Downloading

  • Patrons who have downloaded the wireless print drivers prior to June 26, 2015 will have to download and install the drivers below.
  • Wireless printing is available on both Macs and PCs
    • For Macs, the laptop must be running an Operating System of 10.5 or higher
    • For Windows, the laptop must be running an Operating System of 8.0 or lower
  • Users must be connected and logged in to the WSU network in order for laptop printing to work
  • The software is compatible with all printers within the Library System

Windows Operating System Download and Installation Instructions


Windows XP

  1. Click on the Green link above
  2. When prompted to Run or Save the file, click Save
  3. Save the .EXE to the Desktop
  4. Find the .EXE on the Desktop and left, double-click on the icon
  5. Left click Run
  6. Left click Install
  7. Once install is complete, left click Finish
  8. Reboot your laptop

Windows Vista & Windows 7

  1. Click on the Green link above
  2. When prompted to Run or Save the file, click Save
  3. Save the .EXE to the Desktop
  4. Find the .EXE on the Desktop and right, single-click on the icon
  5. Left click Run As Administrator
  6. Left click Run
  7. Left click Install
  8. Once install is complete, left click Finish
  9. Reboot your laptop

Windows 8

  1. Click on the Green link above
  2. When prompted to Run or Save the file, click Save
  3. Save the .EXE to the Desktop
  4. Find the .EXE on the Desktop and left, double-click on the icon
  5. Left click Run As Administrator
  6. Windows protected your PC message may appear. Do not click OK. Left click on More Info
  7. Left click on Run Anyway
  8. Left click on Yes
  9. Once install is complete, left click Finish
  10. Reboot your laptop

Mac Operating System Download and Installation Instructions

  1. Select the green link above and follow these steps to configure the driver for your workstation
  2. Double click on the Popup.pkg file

  3. Follow the prompts to initiate the installation process

  4. You may be prompted to authenticate the installation with your computer password

  6. Open the Printers and Scanners from the Systems Preferences and double click on the WSUXX Printer in your Print Queue

  7. You may be prompted to install additional components to the printer. Click Install.

  8. Repeat steps 1-7 to install and configure all of the print drivers you wish to have on your laptop
  9. Once the printers are configured, proceed with printing your documents to the appropriate queue. Follow the prompts to identify your print job in the appropriate queue

  10. Visit the corresponding print queue, swipe your OneCard or GuestCard to retrieve the printouts

Printing From My Print Center

My Print Center allows patrons to review print jobs and upload files directly to their print queue

  1. Click here to access My Print Center
  2. Log in using your Pipeline credentials

  3. Click the Upload button and navigate to the document(s) you wish to upload and select the documents you want to print

  4. If you choose, review the documents listed and confirm the price and print configurations prior to printing your documents
  5. Visit an OneCard Release Station, swipe your OneCard and select the jobs accordingly
